Back To Square One & Forward To Basics

After all manner of starts that lead nowhere, I’ve really had it now. So, last week was “Back to Square One” week, starting over week. I am taking my Internet business back to the starting point. In the words of the man, “forward to basics.”

What I had done in the past year and a half or so, was set up websites but without a business plan. With the exception of my first project, which sank like a lead balloon, I had created free reports with no proper follow up. I got caught up in the details of how to create squeeze pages, blogs, Twitter accounts, cheap and cheerful videos, pdf files, graphics, and what have you. While I discerned the odd tree here and even branch there, I got pretty much lost in the woods.

I’m throwing in the towel and starting over. I signed up to a mentored program that will guide me to setting up a proper Internet business. The emphasis here is on ‘business.’ Getting the basics right first, then start. Rather than start and then muddle through and flounder.

That’s why I am starting a new blog rather than carry on my old site and blog. I’ll keep the old one online, though. I mean, I won’t add any content to it but I’ll keep it open. It does contain useful information that I don’t want to bury.

However, a new start is a new start. Here, I’ll document what I do, how I do it, whether I got it right or wrong and why. I’ll also commit publicly to the goals I want to achieve. It’ll be an interesting journey, and I look forward to your company wherever it will take us.

Oh, well, yes, I get it. Why ‘forward to basics’? And who’s the man?

In my explorations and signing up to online courses I was impressed by what I read on Matt Wolfe’s blog. I checked his reference and found the coaching program he had mentioned … closed. @?#!!?$##…

Anyway, a week or so ago, Alex Jeffreys opened the door to his third (and final) live coaching program. I signed up. And true to form, his first session had nothing to do with the Internet and websites and everything with how to build a business. Not back to basics but ‘forward to basics.’ So, for the time being, he’s the man. And I’ll be reporting on my journey with him and his cohorts.
