Real Easy Online Video – Two For One

How would you like to a) create a quick and easy screen capture video right from the word go and b) show it to the world without having to upload it to Youtube?

Here is an example (just click on the link):

http://screencast.com/t/RWwwiou8Poyw

That was really easy. I mean not just what the video showed you but creating the video itself. (BTW, this was my very first Jing video.)

This is how you do it in 5 simple steps:

  1. Go to Jing Project at http://www.jingproject.comJing Project
  2. Download the software (free)
  3. Install the software
  4. Launch the software and watch the training video.
  5. Create your own video.

Here are a couple of tips that will make it even easier.

Tip no. 1:
Use Chrome and install the Chrome “resize window” plugin (you’ll find it here: http://www.chromeextensions.org/appearance-functioning/window-resizer/)

Add two new screen settings (click on the resize icon, then on Edit and add two resolutions):1280 x 720 for full Youtube HD format and 640×360, which gives you half size but still the HD proportions.

Chrome Resized 640x360This is how your browser window will look at 640×360 resolution (not to scale).

Once that’s done, set your browser to the desired size with the Window Resizer plugin. Then you can record the browser window with Jing in HD without having to worry about the right format for Youtube.

Tip no. 2:
If you want to record in HD but not in your preformatted browser window, just hold down the shift key while dragging the mouse in Jing. Jing will record at the HD aspect ratio wherever you stop.

I hope this will encourage you to try Jing right now.

Do it, and post your free Jing results in the comment box.

  1. Hi Max,

It’s been a while since I visited your page. Looks great and I really like the video.

I’ve been looking into different softwares for video and screen capture. I’ve heard about Jing but have never really looked into it but I think I will now.

    Great information,

    Miike

    1. Thanks, Mike.

If you’re after free screen capture software, try Hypercam 2. I use it. Good stuff.

Le me know how you are getting on.

  2. Hey Max,

I usually use Camtasia Studio for all of my screen captures until i discovered Jing just the other week. It is so much quicker and the fact that you don’t have to mess around uploading your videos to your own server is one less headache

    1. Hi Kerry,

Yes, Jing is seriously fast and ridiculously easy.

I use it now also for screen shots. The Windows Snipping Tool is good, but for a quick job Jing is better as long as it hovers at the top of your screen.

I’ll see how it goes but I think I’ll go for the Pro version at $14.95 for the year – no ads.

      Cheers

      Max
