The Awesome Power of Video

You heard it all before: video marketing, Youtube, we all should be doing it. Yeah, right, whatever.

How about a real success story in the real world and away from all IM hype?

This is the story of 75 year old inventor Dr. Bob who could not place his product for love or money. Even a bevy of tuned in and clued up market research students told him to leave off the Internet because 92% would not be interested in his product. Only one student thought that 8% of the internet population is still an awfully large number.

From this one remark grew a huge success story… via Youtube and a single video produced at knockdown cost (as far as video production costs go).

The rest, as they say, is history.

Youtube, the great leveller of playing fields for the little man who now can succeed where giant corporations don’t dare to tread.

Whatever?

Have a wonderful Christmas and a fabulous 2011.

  1. Happy to learn about the story of Orabrush, Max, and how video online and principally how to leverage Youtube to put our message out to the world.

What is also amazing is all the feedback and related videos that are spawned from a first posting of a good video. Spontaneous social integration and all.

The story of Orabrush shows how to sidestep big corporations and big media agencies through a diy path.

Oh, yes, an Orabrush is on my to buy list.

    Merry X

  2. Max,

    This is a BRILLIANT find!
The Orabrush commercial is HILARIOUS… I immediately wanted to share it!
I see it’s been viewed almost 14 million times… amazing.

What a great testament to the power of video.

Digging into the actual case study behind this turnaround now.

The commercial is really well done, so the 70-year old gentleman must have had some very capable help in putting it together. 🙂

And the social media integration in the “get a free orabrush” is GENIUS.

81,000 YouTube subscribers? CRAZY. Talk about social proof, and permission marketing!

Note to self: Need to go and buy an Orabrush IMMEDIATELY.
    must…
    have…
    spooning…

p.s. Get one for Uncle Steve, as well.
